Sour Video and Batman Jizz

Ok so as is the case with many of the videos posted on this blog.. I may have been the last person in the world to have seen this...so if this post makes me seem like I live in a cave... the truth is that I do, the batcave in fact. Alfred tucks me in every night and Robin lets me watch him and the Adam West Batman give each other reach arounds. (SPLOOOGE!)

Anyway, I came across this music video form the band Sour and thought it was cool enough to post even if the rest of the world has already seen it (fuck you early adapters...I'm out!).  The vid won the Youtube Japan 2009 Video Awarards.  The cast were selected from the actual Sour fan base, from many countries around the world. Each person and scene was filmed purely via webcam.  Enjoy!

Podcast Love

So just got back from Florida, was pissed about going back to work...and the weather in Chicago sucks as usual.  But enough complaining...cause I stumbled across a kick ass podcast that featured 5 of our songs while I was gone!

Thank you to George L. Smyth of the Eclectic Mix Music Podcast!  We're really excited to be a part of this show.  Take a listen to episode #280 here (http://glsmyth.com/Other/EMix/Music-Podcast/?Verona_Red).

Adding to the coolness... George hosted AMPed Music Weekly this week ("the offiical weekly update for the the Association of Music Podcasting") and kicked off the show with one of our tracks! Listen here (http://castroller.com/podcasts/AmpedNewMusic/1429080)

Thank you Mr. Smyth.  I'm feeling much better about being back home now :)

Shit Mike Says to Strangers on Myspace to Get Them to Come Out to Shows: Episode 2

Subject: Gerard Butler

So we aren't Gerard Butler, or anything really close to Gerard Butler but... We do rock hard and believe in sleeping around sort of like Gerard Butler. Check us out at Vollrath and maybe you'll see something in us that you see in GB. Have a good weekend and hope to hear from you soon.

Made in the U.S.A

A Brazilian Verona Red? The rumors are true... I present to you... for the first time ever in the Northern Hemisphere....some other Verona Red band?!  It's not the VR I know and love, but it would work just as well in Jersey!

Support the economy and watch Verona Red videos made in America. http://www.youtube.com/user/VeronaRedMusic#p/u/4/wBMZVN7GKZ8

Here's a fun one we found on youtube taken by a fan at the Beat Kitchen back in November. Thanks Rockgod2099!

The Day the (Rap) Music Died

I like my rap music about cocaine, hookers, and oldsmobiles... this is a disgrace as far as I'm concerned.

The Who Explode All Over The Smother's Brothers

So here I am sitting on the eve of a weekend packed full of Verona Red shows and I come across this clip that gets me all hot bothered for the rock and roll good times. This has to be one of my all time favorite bands in one of my all time favorite infamous television moments.  I recommend the whole clip, but if you're on a tight masturbating schedule start at 1:55.

Props to Steve for sending this my way!

The Who destroyed equipment at the Monterey Pop Festival that year and repeated the routine on the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour with explosive results as Moon detonated his drumkit. Years later, during filming of The Kids Are Alright, Townshend claimed that the event was the start of his hearing troubles. The drum kit had been loaded with an excessive amount of explosives due to Keith Moon bribing a stage hand. The resulting explosion was much more powerful than had been anticipated.

This is ROCK AND ROLL. Can’t wait to get FUCKING NUTS with all of you at our Indy and Chicago shows this weekend!

New Year's Eve: Hello 2010!

So I saw a lot of new things on New Year’s Eve…unfortunately I ended up being too drunk to get any decent pictures and the person who I was depending on to take pictures instead ended up losing their camera…or it was stolen, checked craigslist… still not sure.

That said please forgive the shittiness of these pictures.

The first new thing I saw was Lincoln Hall. Couldn’t wait to check out Chicago’s coolest new venue since it opened a few months back. I really dug it…especially the ceiling fixtures…apparently.

I also saw the Fiery Furnaces for the first time. I dig their music, their live show not as much…but that’s how it goes sometimes.

After that we went to a friend’s sister’s house party, drank some champagne, hopped in a cab over to Durkin's (bar Mike works at), got kicked out at last call and then scampered home giggling uncontrollably. I believe the night ended with Grandma’s Boy, an ash tray full of tap water, and a spilled bowl of nuts... again more things I'd never seen before...two of those last three anyway.

Seriously though 2009 was the best year yet for Verona Red. THANK YOU to everyone who supported us this year. We are SUPER PUMPED for everything we have in store for you guys in 2010. WE LOVE YOU!

For some 2010 appetizers... two shows to get your lips wet.
